It's about torture to get information out of war prisoners. Using simulated drowning and the like.
Of course Bush vetoed it, because it got the Intelligence community information to thwart terrorist attacks. Of course it's inhumane, but Bush isn't going to stop it. I doubt that the military higher ups would let any President stop it. _________________ It's just four more miles. Everybody smile!

Kay, now I know what you're talking about. Forgive my ignorance.
As far as I'm concerned, torture doesn't work and will never work. If you torture comeone enough, they'll do and/or say anything to make it stop, including whatever it is that you want to see/hear. I'm sure they know this, so why do we insist on using these tactics? Does the military simply LIKE torturing people? _________________
All militaries torture in times of peace and war. Peace against their own members "for discipline" and in wartime, I'm sure you know...
It's simply inevitible. Every military has their own good guys and bad guys.
The only problem is, because the US military is the most technologically advanced and powerful in the world, they can do whatever the heck they wish without fearing heavy international protest and criticism.
Ahbu Grahbi prison for example? Gitmo Bay in Cuba? And the rape and murder of the poor 14 year old Iraqi girl by sick US soldiers?
All of that easily washed over by our so-called "democratic" media. Not to mention...
The US holds the reins of the UN and are a "world power". Smart huh? >;) _________________

You know what I've been wondering about for a LONG time... It seems to me that the military is getting a good percentage of our tax dollars, not the most, but a lot. However, no politician dares to even THINK of cutting the military funding. If they have enough money to torture and kill people with state-of-the-art technology, they certainly don't need as much as they're getting. That's my own opinion, though. _________________

I actually heard that the most amount of our tax dollars is going to social security. We seem to be VERY paranoid about this whole immigration thing, so I wouldn't be surprised.
