Seriously. She destroyed the jewel in the past. Since that happens before she was sent back in time, she never is sent back. The jewel doesn't exist so it never opened a time portal for her. So technically in a timeline Kagome is still in the present and never met Inuyasha and all that. So there are in actuallity 2 Kagomes. The one in this timeline and the one in the timeline created by this Kagome who is still a normal person. However, since that Kagome never goes back in time and the jewel never existed, then that means Naraku never went after it so then Kikyou and Inuyasha never got "destroyed" along with every other character in their that timeline.

technically we have 2 of everyone now. The timeline shown in the manga and another timeline that is "normal." if that makes sense to anyone here.

So...it's like an alternate timeline? Okay, for serious. This doesn't make much sense. Just like how the epic failure of T3 movie was. All flash and no bang. :S

I'll try explaining myself better.

You see, because the jewel was destroyed in the past, anything in the future involving the jewel doesn't happen because it doesn't exist. So technically, nby destroying the jewel in the past, Kagome never goes back in time. It creates a duel timeline, one which the manga follows, the other one a "normal" timeline.

Unless the jewel wasn't destroyed in the PAST so much as an alternate dimension. The jewel was destroyed from the inside, as I understood it, so perhaps it wasn't destroyed in either past, present or future, but simply ceased to be.

Good idea for a fanfiction, however, involving that theory. I'd like to see that.
