Abortion: your thoughts?personally I think there are some times when it's better to have one. Like if the mother is on drugs while pregnant. That baby will die in 2 days and be in pain it's entire short life if it's getting fed heroin in the womb. Better to just put it out of it's misery IMO.
Note: I figured this would work best in this section

It is a current issue....
My thoughts are thus: until we can come up with a generally agreed-upon definition for what it means to be "alive", then we probably won't ever settle our differences on this subject. I mean, the whole argument is either pro-life or pro-choice (no one ever says they're pro-abortion.... that just sounds weird), so what is the definition of life for the "pro-lifers"? Is it after the nervous system is fully developed? After the heart starts beating? After it breathes the first breath? After conception?
Until we resolve that, I sit on the fence. Definition is EVERYTHING!!!

I frankly agree with Vraps. However, as I brutally stated on CJ's forum (and got myself in a SH!7LOAD of trouble for...), I am for abortion if a woman (or girl ) was raped or has abuse problems.
However...depending on the way a fetus is aborted...it's cruel...
I for one have read MUCH more worse ways to "abort". USA's "illegal" abortions pale in comparsion to less fortunate countries...for example...
North Korea.

Absolutely correct. If people intend to make abortion illegal, there will always be those who are going to risk doing it in an unsafe and ILLEGAL manner. Much like our little drug problem, no?

LOL, I am completely placid about that "drug war" thing. It's ridiculous and has basically lead to overcrowding of American prisons.
I wonder what will happen if the limit is broken? Prison Break come to mind? >

Whatever happens won't be good.
In any case, I don't think abortion should be made illegal. It would cause too many problems for people who need to get one for the sake of everybody involved. Better those people have the option while those who don't necessarily need to get one can take advantage. Certainly better than people who need to get one having to undergo an unsafe and unreliable proceedure because some others want to overpopulate the earth to the extent of overwhelming desperation.
I suppose my way of stepping off the fence is opposing what pro-lifers stand for. They push and push and push to have every pregnancy they know of carried to term, but after the baby is born, a good majority of them stop caring about what happens to the child after it takes its first breath. What of the conditions the baby was born into? What of the competence of mother and father? To most people on the pro-life side, this isn't an issue for them to think about.
