1) Kagome's missing soul peice. Well, Kikyou died and it didn't return to her. Where is it?

2) The light in the jewel. It's importance seemed to drop significantly. Jeez, Kikyou purposly did not heal herself in order to put that in the jewel. The super arrow of Kagome and Kikyou is now worthless apparently?

And on the topic of Kikyou....man this plot would be moving a lot faster had she lived. Think about it. Instead of having Kagome go on and on for 10 chapters trying to figure out who sealed her powers (despite it being told to us by second time), we could just have Kikyou train her so we cut the time of the arc in half. And of course recently we have Sango magically knowing that Miroku drank the medicine. Well that is a plot hole. Would make a bit more sense had Kikyou been with them and told Sango. Really, sudenly when Kikyou turns really friendly, that's when she bites it? Just save her for up to chapter 500 and we'd be ending the current arc then. It'd also be nice to see her in the group full time and nice. Could definatly cause friction. Be nice to see emo Kikyou go "I'm sorry"

I was under the impression that Kikyou, albiet indirectly, DID say sorry. Why does she have to be emo about it?

Why so frantic VRap? This story has been going on a LONG time, and while I hope it's coming to an end with my theory, I still doubt that it will. I'm willing to leave my mind open to a LITTLE more time for all that.

I'm serious though. Just have Kikyou die a couple of arcs later and we'd have this manga end a lot sooner.

1) Kikyou could teach Kagome so we don't have to go through as many "my powers are sealed" stuff

2) Kikyou could be with the group full time so she could tell Sango about the medicine

3) Explanation of the light in the jewel completly. Could also go into where Kagome's missing soul peice is.

4) explanation of exactly what poisoned her. There has been a bit of wonder if it's natural clay body thing, Kagome failed at the waterfall, something else, etc.

I mean right now....somehow we are rushing over plot points yet at the same time dragging it out. I havn't seen that happen in a manga, only in a movie. Just have Kikyou live a few more arcs and we could have already passed this arc 20 chapters ago. And of course we have a bit different feel for Kikyou since she'd be nice Kikyou so it wouldn't be stale. We'd have a nice Kikyou being very greatful and happy with kagome. Now then we'd have a good place to kill her. Then we get to fully see the transformation, not just a quick sentence. With a quick sentence, you still have memories of bad Kikyou; with a bit of time, you'd feel more of the transformation. It'd make it more emotional cause now more people would actually like her. let's face it, Kikyou's death was the "oh....90% of fans don't really care" death....followed by Kaou stealing Inu's pain for a record change of heart fanservice.

But I thought we established that Takahashi doesn't think that far ahead (even as I say that Kagome's exam was what she was waiting for, I don't think she really even planned that out more than a couple of chapters ahead....). She's said before that she doesn't know where it's going, and that's basically a nice way of saying she's pulled the whole thing out of her ass.

I can think of several other places where the manga could have ended MUCH earlier than even your proposition. The fact is, she's just not sure what's going on in her own head, let alone what's going on in this manga.

Let's face it though, LIFE isn't wrapped up in a cute little package, and I think in this sense Takahashi could be seen as a realist in how she portrays these messy sub-plots and the same things happening over and over again. It happens in reality too, and significantly this story is a motion to that effect.

wait...she really does have no clue what she's gonna do next? Well.....at least that explains Kaou and the light in the jewel mess....although the light in the jewel BETTER be developed more. that thing is too important to be left alone.
