Has Anyone Ever....... Read an article out of a scientific journal and had to translate it into layman's terms? Not only is the article completely ambiguous and specific at the same time, but it's so hard to pick out what you think your audience will be interested in as opposed to what they hardly need to know.
It hurts my brain.

I'm confused even by your description of the problem.

VRap: You take an article from a scientific journal, and you try to make it interesting to the general NONscientific population; at least, that's what I've been asked to do. It may not sound like a big deal, but if you try to do it, it's much more difficult than you have first anticipated. It's almost like translating between two languages.
jade: I have an all new respect for what you do, lol!

I have to do this for teaching, because let's face it...most biology majors aren't really interested in science anyway, they are interested in becoming a doctor and making lots of money.
Furthermore, with all of these grant application things....some of the people who decide whether to give us research funding or not aren't even scientists. They're business people, so I have to convince them that my research is going to lead to some moneymaking sooner or later.
