Things To Ponder

I'm surprised I haven't started a thread on this earlier, but what are some things (all throughout the series) that have confused or made you think harder than you should have?

I certainly want to know why RT doesn't think Kagome needs to wear something more practical on her journeys to the Sengoku Jidai.

I also want to know what Kagome's mother is smoking to allow her to be so OKAY with Kagome always being in Feudal Japan.

And what is with Kagome getting her stomach ripped open in the beginning of the manga (by the centipede to get the jewel) and NOT dying from that?

I'm not even going to ask where Sesshoumaru's new arm came from, since I'm pretty sure we're never going to get a logical answer to that question....

How about the fact that the future should be constantly changing because of stuff Kagome does in the past?

Or the whole "laws" of reincarnation? Well, my good old Takahashi physics is the answer, of course....but it would be so much nicer if these reincarnation rules were explained, seeing as how they don't seem to match with actual reincarnation beliefs.

This manga creates within the story a sort of time-loop, so it is possible that everything is the way it is because Kagome had already changed everything. It's not changing because while Kagome was in the past, she ALREADY changed it, so there's nothing changing now.

I don't know if that makes much sense.... but it's the best I can do when it comes to explaining this stuff...

Yes, no laws HAVE been set up regarding reincarnation, but I suppose that has the purpose of making it so that Takahashi can change anything she wants at any time in the story. If she doesn't establish rules, she doesn't have to break them, so I suppose we should be grateful for at least that much.

But as much as her use of reincarnation goes, it just shows she has imagination in that respect. I mean, reality (as close as you can get to it, anyway) doesn't have to match up with belief systems at all. White Europeans once believed that Africans were inferior, but that's not the REALITY of it. Maybe reincarnation really IS horribly complicated like this, and we can never tell for sure.

you know...the beggining of the manga was a lot more hardcore and dark. Usually mangas get darker as time go on but this one got wussyfied. Even now with all this death and stuff it's still not as hardcore as the beggining. Everything is just drawn out.

I suppose you have to remember that Takahashi, from what I've seen, is a little more used to writing comedy, so I don't think it's surprising to me that it turned out this way. It's almost as if she's putting off the punchline of a joke...
