"Chapter 517 spoiler summary:

Sesshoumaru figures that since Magatsuhi is the soul of a collection of youkai sealed within the Shikon no Tama, then he is not a being of this world. It stands to reason, then, that Tenseiga would work on him, so he slashes at him. However, he becomes captured by that body. Inuyasha also slashes at him, and when he also becomes captured, Magatsuhi's body explodes and Sesshoumaru appears from inside. A powerful light emits from his left arm.

And in one of the next posts, someone asks to clarify that it really is the left arm, and he responds, 'Yeah, left. The one that isn't there.'" ~ Patches

OMG! Maybe Sess will regrow his arm, or something else even more intresting. Here's hoping, right. 516, was okay. Jaken's thoughts annoyed me, though. Baka imp! LOL

If Sesshoumaru regrows his arm, I'll be a little disappointed. His character sort of seemed to become stronger because of his disability, but if his arm returns, then that seems a little too much like fanservice to me....

Take the word of Jhonen Vasquez to heart: Never listen to the fans! They know NOTHING!

That's paraphrased, of course, but it's the general idea.

I don't know. May seem a bit like fanservice, but it could be worse, you know. And maybe even if he gained his arm back, there'd be a catch, like he may be a bit weak and have to adjust again, or something even better, like he loses a leg eventhough he regians his arm. I'm sure he's still gonna have some kind of a dissability, no matter what.

What I still want to know is what Magatsuhi has to do with Sesshoumaru's missing arm. What's the connection that would make that happen? Or is it just random like that?

Sess is getting an upgrade at least, and Inuyasha seems to be showing a few feelings for Sess at least...he 'won't let you die this way"...sure he might mean that he wants to save him so he can kill him himself, but, there you are.

I don't know. While Sesshoumaru showed plenty of initiative to kill HIM, Inuyasha never really had a desire to strike out at Sesshoumaru unless it was in self-defense. At least... that's what I remember.

Okaaaaaaay.... Since no one seems to want to talk about Inuyasha here, looks like I'm going to have to have a little conversation with myself.

"Sesshoumaru’s left arm restores grasping a sword. According to Toutousai who appears there, the name of the sword is Bakusaiga. He says the appearance of the sword means that Sesshoumaru has let go of his attachment to Tessaiga and stands as a youkai in his own right. Sesshoumaru uses Bakusaiga and eliminates Magatsuhi. Then Kagome wakes up. But is something wrong with Kagome?" ~ Patches

Looks like this is where I get off the fan train anyway.... Good job, finding a completely random way to give Sesshoumaru his arm back, Takahashi.

And what is wrong with Kagome? She's regurgitating old story lines, that's what.

She really should have ended this manga either when Kikyou sends Naraku to the next world, or when the super arrow from kagome's new bow hit him, but Kikyou lived. Now...realistically he should die when he gets destroyed by Kikyou's jewel trap/kagome/Inu/etc super attackl But if he lives through that it's just completly rediculous (as if it hasn't been for a while Rolling Eyes

)

That's another thing... Now that Magatsuhi is destroyed, shouldn't it be that the jewel is no longer a threat? It should be completely useless to evil beings now that the evil side of the jewel has been destroyed.

Whenever someone really gets kissed in this manga...someone is dying. I'd rather not speak of it.

That's ridiculous. Kikyou kissed Inuyasha earlier in the series and he ended up NOT dying. She was trying to kill him and everything.

Kohaku also tried to commit suicide. Everybody's always so emo....

Eh...I got nothing to argue against that except...I'm shocked there was actually a new post in this part. The sword change didn't occur in any of the topics here with a new post I missed. Is it just my computer or is the whole updating sword thing broken?

I might start a thread about those elsewhere... I'm not sure they're entirely effective.

In any case, I don't mind this chapter so much. I'm beginning to think Kohaku has a fighting chance, though I'm not quite sure why. I'll get back to you when I do.

Chapter 527: Lifeless...

Kohaku is AWESOME! I certainly made a call about Kohaku earlier, though I still don't know if I'm right. Holy crud, though... that boy's got more strategic game than Inuyasha. It was pretty obvious to me that he knew Naraku was lying when he said he would let Kagome go, but he made his observations, deductions, and the eventually semi-effective plan that would indefinitely put him in the position he needed to be.

Never mind that since his information was ASSUMED, his whole plan could have been useless...

Still... Good boy! That's showing him!

Anyone connect Kikyou's death wound to the shoulder in the beginning of the series, to this wound Naraku's going to get in his?

hmm...didn't think of that. But yeah now that you mention it it is odd. And with all this Kikyou talk recently....I wouldn't be shocked if she planned Kohaku to do this and it's all some Metal Gear Solid 2 complexity plan that makes almost no sense because there are so many factors type of plan that ultimatly ends up with her revived.

Chapter 533: The Presence of the Jewel

All I can say is.... WHERE IS TESSAIGA? Isn't it supposed to be preventing this sort of thing? Or is it simply a matter of which has a bigger aura, or more influence, at this point? Because if Tessaiga has less of an aura and less influence now than Naraku's polluted jewel, then he might very well have screwed over Kagome.

Who knows? Maybe she'll bring it back, but one thing is for sure, I don't much care for Inuyasha becoming evil again.

In any case, Starks says this next chapter is a double issue, meaning we won't have a chapter next week. I have to say, though, I'm a little relieved. My finals are next week, and I don't know if I'd have the energy to get on the internet just to read a comic while all of that was going on....

Chapter 535 - Inuyasha is freaking out because he thinks he might have hurt kagome, Kagome wakes up and finds Sesshoumaru protecting her from all the random youkai wriggling around in Naraku's body, and Miroku's about to get himself killed so that he's no longer a use to anyone.

I just have to ask... what is it about Sesshoumaru that makes him such a.... LEADER? Seriously, people just follow that guy around. First Jaken, then Rin, then Kohaku, and now Kagome. Pretty soon, everybody is going to end up following around Sesshoumaru, and they won't even have a reason. They just will. Because EVERYBODY follows him into oblivion.

Also, question of the week: does Naraku feel all those individual youkai wandering around in his body? Are they all parasites, and once they're done trying to kill off Inuyasha and pals, will they just feed off of Naraku's spider blood?

I'm not sure but someone in fnfic-land is so happy that Sesshy and Kagome are alone.

And I doubt they'll kill off Miroku.

And did you notice Naraku state "both" women? I swear we are gonna get a bit of a flashback to te very beggining/promise/etc at the very end.

Chapter 536: So, we have Miroku convinced that he's going to die, sidekicks providing some well-needed comic relief, and Naraku obviously trying to pit Sesshoumaru against Inuyasha once again. We all know that Inuyasha is not going to kill Rin, though, because Naraku's plans are everything BUT fool proof. Who's the biggest fool in the series? Inuyasha.

Or is it Naraku? Questions to ponder.

yeah...miroku is not dying. think about it. he'd suck up everything inside Naraku and kill him along with the entire group. What kind of ending is that?

Having sentience is having awareness. Inuyasha lost his sentience to the polluted jewel, which means he lost self awareness and a sense of himself. Explain everything?

How about that panel with Kagome clinging to Sesshoumaru's fuzzy pelt thing while he flew? You cannot tell me that you saw that panel and didn't laugh. Good comedy.

Chapter 538: Sesshoumaru and Kagome go to find Inuyasha, Kagome tells Sesshoumaru not to fight Inuyasha because that will be exactly what Naraku wants, Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha fight anyway (because nobody listens to Kagome) and Sesshoumaru calls Kagome an idiot.

Pretty basic, nothing special, chapter. Laughing

apparently the next chapter kagome gets her powers back. And our ultimate evil of the jewel guy dies with one hit. Damnit. I just smell sell out fanservice coming. I'm calling an S Cry Ed right now.

Whatever. Magatsuhi is dead, so that's really all that matters to me. Of course, now that he's dead, we shouldn't have a problem with the jewel anymore, given that Magatsuhi was the evil will; the good will of Midoriko is all that should remain.

Then again, Naraku's will and miasma may just be a giant substitute for Magatsuhi at this point. Or, that could be me trying to makes sense of a plot line that makes none.

yeah...most likly they'll just say Naraku is in the jewel hence why it's tainted still.

And Inuyasha says he'd give his life to protect Kagome. I doubt this one is foreshadowing; It's just a cliched line. And I still want more with Kikyou in the jewel damnit. She has such a huge part then "oh...I'll just decide to leave and go to Kohaku"......crap way to end that Takahashi! You could have had Naraku live through the attack or something. I swear this is becoming one giant cop out fanservice to get more sales.

personally, if I were writing this, I wouldn't care how many people like such and such a character. It's my plot and I'll do what I want with it. You don't like it then don't buy it; simple as that. I could have noone buying it but I'll still write it how I please. I just can't stand when writers sell out like S Cry Ed's writer did.

what seeing this light makes them think...?"

Naraku: "I'll tell you only once. Miroku's Kazaana has already
reached its limit. Most likely, if he opens the Kazaana one more
time..."
Inuyasha: "!"

Miroku: "The vibrations.. . have stopped."

Miroku: "What should I do...? Just open the Kazaana here... and at
least deal Naraku a little damage in the end...?"

Miroku: "Hmph, how pathetic... As long as I'm inside Naraku's body,
I can't deal him a fatal blow..."

Miroku: 'Light?!'

Miroku: 'Purifying light... this is...'

Miroku: 'That's right... the Shikon no Tama's light! Does this mean
Kagome-sama' s spritual powers have returned?!'

Miroku: 'At the head of that light is the Shikon no Tama... and
Naraku!'

Naraku: "However, there is no guarantee... that the light Miroku is
following is connected to me..."

Kagome: "Do you intend to trick him into opening the Kazaana?!"

Naraku: "You're too late..."

Naraku: "Kagome, your light... will kill your friends."

and before someone says anything: this light is Kagome, teh previous was Kikyou.

So... we finally get back to Miroku. Think something incomprehensible is going to happen to save him? Or is he going to die, and then be brought back to life in an incomprehensible way? Both options involve something incomprehensible.

well...if he dies...he'll suck up all of Naraku with him so logically he'll be saved because that would be a really random and lame way to end it.

If he did suck up all of Naraku with him, he would also suck up everyone else inside him, which would really... suck.

I think Naraku's too vast, though. He's too big as the giant spidery thing to be sucked up and destroyed completely by Miroku's Kazaana.

By the way... why is Naraku still hanging out in human form inside his spider form? He's doing a "double-body" thing, and it's throwing me off balance. And why, in moments of tension between everyone and himself, is he not wearing clothes? Based on various interpretations of Sesshoumaru's line after he gets burned, it seems that Naraku is now too distracted by Kagome's powers to worry about his appearance so much. His human parts are in a barrier with the jewel, but the spider ball is still sprouting out. He looks much less evolved than he used to, because his attentions are being taken elsewhere.

In any case, Sesshoumaru's going to be pissed off beyond all reason if Sango kills Rin, so who else wants to go into the story just to direct and Tell Sango that we're going to try NOT to make Sesshoumaru all emo again? Besides, Naraku would get what he wants, and nobody wants him to get what he wants.

honestly.....it'd be kind of pointless to kill them off this close to the final battle (I hope). It just gets the whole "death for the hell of it" feeling to me. I mean even if there is a whoel "Kagome, you killed them" aspect....it feels more lame than shocking. If they were to pull that, have her powers kill a friend earlier.....like maybe back when they were fighting myourma....myor....that armor guy noone could break and Naraku absorbed.

Unless kagome or Inuyasha die it just won't seem too tragic to me; just stupid.

I find it a little sad that Sango has become so stupid.

Then again, Naraku always seemed to be fairly charismatic when it comes to making people do things they would never normally do.

The light has been swallowed, according to the title. I think the light was swallowed because of Sango and Miroku's predicament, their fear getting the better of them. Kagome needs to use her newly restored powers to fix things, but I think she needs Sango and Miroku to come back to themselves, to get back to being a team. RT's theme through the entire manga is "you are not alone". Kagome, as awesome as her powers might be once brought to full fruition, might not be enough without her support team.

Kagome hits Naraku wih an arrow and remembers hitomiko's words. the fake Naraku Sango aimed at dissapears. Sesshy saves Rin and then Sango goes emo and says Sesshy it's OK to kill her since was going to kill Rin and chapter ends before anything heppens to Sang or anything.

Hitomiko.....great. Now we'll have Kagome remember her say that something was blocking her powers.....which we already know! It happened 1 chapter ago.

I think even the most devoted of fans have gotten to the point where they want the manga to end. I got to that point two chapters after the 500 mark.... Rolling Eyes

OK...basically in the next chapter Kagome hits naraku, the traps dissapear, noone dies and Naraku escapes to deeper inside himself.

Thankfully all of Naraku didn't run off and warp the group outside or something. This might really be the final battle after all. He would have escaped and have the group somehow outside the body and have to find giant ball naraku again.

though....I really do feel that somehow RT is rushing this while taking to lng to get anywhere if you know what I mean. The battle is going slow but the character development seems....choppy; like we skipped a few steps for them.

It looks like Sesshy doesn't do anything to Sango...yet. There weren't many details, but it looks like she moves on with the group to go after Naraku.

Oh and Naraju stated that Miroku and Kagome are the weakest of the group. If it wasn't almost midnight I would so read into that and ask stuff like if Naraku is just saying this or does he think it's true or something.

You know...I really want it to be true though; it would give me more fuel. I just want my Inu and Kikyou to be together in the afterlife or something. They had their whole futures taken from them and they deserve to get that back. kagome has her whole life ahead of her (and a time paradox for a second Inuyasha reincarnation in her time)

As much as you love the pairing, VRap.... I think both you and I highly doubt it's going to happen.

You know what we should do is write our own alternate story-lines. I would have personally ended this a long time ago through a gruging strategy, luring Naraku out on to their playing field instead of the other way around all the time, but that's just me.

As for the chapter.... You get a feeling we're getting close? I hope so, BY THE GODS DO I HOPE!

I can still hope for a cop out ending and have it end with you wondering if Inu and Kagome seperate or not. Then I can say Inu waited to die so he'd be with Kikyou.
