I just found out that I have to do a grant proposal and a comprehensive examination before this summer!!!!! ARRGGGHH!!! This really really sucks, because it's a helluva lot of work, and I feel like I barely have enough time to do everything with lab work and teaching and having a family life.
But, on the bright side, once those things are finished, it's all downhill until I write and defend my dissertation, and then I'll be FINISHED!!!

Getting my own taste of writing proposals tells me that you're in for a lot of work, so I believe you. Sorry about that!
But with that dissertation coming up, you must have thought about what you're going to write, and I'm a little curious now. What's the thesis?
